6D Helmets UK – Frequently Asked Questions
About 6D Helmets
What makes 6D Helmets different?
6D Helmets are designed with advanced impact protection technology, with a particular focus on managing both high- and low-energy impacts. All 6D helmets incorporate the company’s Omni-Directional Suspension™ (ODS) technology, designed to help reduce forces transmitted to the rider during an impact.
What type of riding are 6D Helmets suitable for?
6D produces helmets for a range of disciplines, including motocross, off-road, enduro and other powersports applications. Please check the individual product description to ensure the helmet is suitable for your intended use.
Are 6D Helmets approved for use in the UK?
Yes, applicable 6D helmet models are manufactured to meet the relevant safety standards for their intended market and use. Always check the specific certification markings and product information for the helmet you are purchasing.
Choosing Your Helmet
How do I choose the correct helmet size?
The best way to select your size is to measure the circumference of your head and compare the measurement with the sizing chart for the specific 6D model.
Helmet sizing can vary slightly between models, so we recommend checking the individual product's size guide before ordering.
How should I measure my head?
Using a flexible tape measure, measure around the widest part of your head, approximately 2–3 cm above your eyebrows and around the back of your head.
Take the measurement in centimetres and compare it with the size chart for your chosen helmet.
What if I am between sizes?
If your measurement falls between two sizes, please contact us before ordering and we can help you determine the best option.
How should a new helmet fit?
A new helmet should feel snug and secure without causing excessive pressure or discomfort. The cheek pads should make firm contact with your cheeks, and the helmet should not move excessively when you shake or move your head.
A helmet that feels slightly snug when new can be normal, as the internal padding may compress slightly with use.
Can I change the cheek pads or liners?
Replacement and alternative-size interior components are available for certain 6D models. Please contact us if you need different cheek pads, liners or other replacement parts.
Delivery
Where do you deliver?
We currently ship throughout the UK. Delivery options and charges will be displayed during checkout.
How long will my order take to arrive?
Orders are normally dispatched within the timeframe shown at checkout or on the product page. Delivery times may vary depending on the service selected and your location.
Will I receive tracking information?
Yes. Once your order has been dispatched, tracking information will be provided where available.
What happens if my order arrives damaged?
Please contact us as soon as possible if your package or helmet arrives damaged. We may ask you to provide photographs of the packaging and product so we can investigate the issue with the courier or supplier.
Returns & Exchanges
Can I return my helmet if it doesn't fit?
Please check our returns policy before ordering. If you need to return or exchange a helmet due to sizing, the helmet must remain unused and in its original condition and packaging.
For safety reasons, we cannot accept returns of helmets that have been worn or used where doing so would compromise their resale or safety condition.
Can I exchange my helmet for another size?
Subject to availability, we can usually arrange an exchange for an alternative size where the helmet meets our returns requirements. Please contact us before sending anything back.
What if I have received the wrong item?
Contact us as soon as possible and we will arrange the appropriate solution.
Helmet Care & Maintenance
How should I clean my 6D helmet?
Clean the exterior using mild soap and warm water with a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, petrol, abrasive cleaners and other products that could damage the helmet materials.
Always follow the cleaning and maintenance instructions supplied with your specific helmet.
Can I use solvents or chemical cleaners on my helmet?
No. Do not use petrol, solvents, harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaning products unless specifically approved by the manufacturer.
Can I add stickers or decals to my helmet?
Only use products that are approved or recommended for use with your specific helmet. Certain adhesives, paints, solvents or chemicals can potentially damage helmet materials.
If you are unsure, contact us before applying anything to your helmet.
After an Impact
Do I need to replace my helmet after a crash?
Yes. A helmet should be replaced after a significant impact, even if there is no visible external damage.
Internal damage may not always be visible, and a helmet's protective performance can be compromised after an impact.
Can I continue using a helmet if it has been dropped?
If the helmet has been dropped from a significant height or has experienced an impact, we recommend having it inspected or replacing it if there is any doubt about its condition.
How long should I keep my helmet?
Helmet replacement recommendations can vary depending on the manufacturer, model, condition and amount of use. Always follow the guidance supplied with your specific 6D helmet.
If your helmet is showing signs of damage, deterioration or excessive wear, it should be replaced regardless of age.
Replacement Parts
Can I buy replacement parts for my 6D helmet?
Replacement parts are available for selected models, including items such as cheek pads, liners, visors and other components.
Please contact us with your helmet model and the part you require and we will confirm availability.
Can I replace the visor myself?
Visors can be replaced by the owner using the provided Screw-Key that comes with your helmet. Please follow the instructions supplied with your helmet and use genuine or approved replacement components.
Safety
Can I modify my 6D helmet?
We strongly recommend against modifying your helmet. Do not drill, cut, paint, alter or otherwise modify the helmet unless specifically authorised by 6D.
Modifications can affect the helmet's protective performance and certification.
Can I buy a second-hand 6D helmet?
We recommend purchasing a new helmet from an authorised retailer whenever possible. With a second-hand helmet, it can be difficult to know whether it has previously been involved in an impact, stored incorrectly or otherwise compromised.
